Père Noël
Père Noël is the French-language comics incarnation of Santa Claus, the legendary gift-giving figure of Christmas tradition. He has appeared in holiday-themed stories alongside characters like Popeye and Olive in French publisher SFPI's titles.
There's something wonderfully festive about Père Noël — the French-language incarnation of Santa Claus himself — making his comics debut in the Silver Age pages of Cap'tain Présente Popeye back in 1965, courtesy of creator Pierluigi Sangalli and the beloved French publisher SFPI. Across a remarkable span stretching all the way to the present day, this jolly figure has graced an eclectic range of titles, sharing pages with the likes of Popeye, Olive, and even Green Lantern in holiday collections that blend the warmly familiar with the delightfully unexpected. His appearances in DC Christmas - 24 histoires pour attendre Noël speak to the enduring appeal of yuletide storytelling across the French comics tradition, where Père Noël remains a welcome guest in any panel he inhabits.
