Oncle Ben
Few figures in comics carry as much quiet weight as Oncle Ben, whose debut in the French publication Strange Spécial Origines #133 bis in 1981 introduced Francophone readers to one of Marvel's most morally resonant presences, brought to life by the legendary partnership of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Across roughly two decades of French-market publishing — through Spider-Man, Spider-Man : l'intégrale, and Strange — this Bronze Age incarnation kept extraordinary company, sharing pages with Peter Parker, Tante May, La Chose, Iron Man, and Sally Avril. Though his catalog appearances are few, Oncle Ben's place in the Marvel universe has always punched far above its count, his presence felt as a cornerstone of the storytelling that surrounds him. For collectors of French Marvel editions, he's a touchstone figure — small in number, enormous in significance.
