Olivia
Olivia is a character from the Italian comics series Braccio di Ferro, the localized adaptation of Popeye published by Editoriale Metro beginning in 1963. She is the Italian counterpart to Olive Oyl, Popeye's iconic companion.
Olivia made her comics debut in 1963 within the pages of Braccio di Ferro #1 β an Italian Silver Age launch from Editoriale Metro that would prove remarkably enduring, running all the way through 1990. Over the course of 228 catalogued appearances across Braccio di Ferro and the prestige Braccio di Ferro Oro editions, she became a genuine fixture of this beloved Italian comic universe, sharing her adventures with a colorful cast including Timoteo, Trinchetto, Poldo, Grissino, and the wonderfully named Strega Bacheca. Created by Michele Gazzarri and Pierluigi Sangalli, Olivia earned her place in collectors' hearts across nearly three decades, with three of her appearances recognized as key issues β a testament to a character whose staying power in Italian comics history is very much worth discovering.
