O Abutre
O Abutre is the Brazilian Portuguese edition of the Vulture, one of Spider-Man's earliest enemies. An elderly but ruthless winged criminal, he uses a electromagnetic harness to fly and commit high-stakes theft, making him a recurring aerial threat to the web-slinger.
A fixture of Brazilian comics publishing, O Abutre made their catalog debut in 1983's O Espectacular Homem-Aranha #3 — a Bronze Age entry brought to Brazilian readers through work originating with the legendary duo of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Spanning an impressive 36 years across Panini Brasil editions, this character turns up in beloved titles like O Espetacular Homem-Aranha and A Teia do Aranha, sharing pages with icons such as Homem-Aranha, Peter Parker, J. Jonah Jameson, and even Venom. It's a testament to the enduring appeal of this corner of comics that the adventures kept finding new Brazilian audiences well into 2019 — a rewarding thread to follow for any collector tracing the rich history of Marvel's Portuguese-language publications.
