Who is Mr. Moritz?
A minor but memorable face from the gritty Copper Age of DC's Gotham City, Mr. Moritz made his debut in Detective Comics #576 in 1987, courtesy of the celebrated creative team of Mike W. Barr and a young Todd McFarlane — whose kinetic artwork was already turning heads. With only a handful of appearances to his name, he's a deep-cut supporting player, but one who keeps remarkably distinguished company: Alfred Pennyworth, Commissioner James Gordon, and Leslie Thompkins all share his pages. For collectors chasing the full texture of late-'80s Gotham, Mr. Moritz is one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-him figures who makes the world feel genuinely lived-in.
