Who is Monster Boy?
Emerging from the fertile indie comics scene of the early 1990s, Monster Boy burst onto the page in 1991 courtesy of creator Bob Supina and Caliber Press — that scrappy publisher that gave so many offbeat characters a home during the Copper/Modern Age. Sharing adventures with the legendary Doc Stearn across a handful of appearances, including a spotlight in Mr. Monster Presents (Crack-A-Boom!), this character occupies a wonderfully niche corner of comics history. Rare and distinctly of its era, Monster Boy is exactly the kind of hidden gem that makes digging through indie back-issue bins such a rewarding adventure.
