Monsieur Barthélémy
Monsieur Barthélémy is a character from Fred's whimsical Philémon series, set in a surreal world accessed through letters of the alphabet floating in the Atlantic Ocean, where young Philémon encounters bizarre inhabitants and fantastical adventures.
A distinctive presence in the pages of the beloved French comics magazine Pilote, Monsieur Barthélémy made his debut in 1971, brought to life by the imaginative Mandryka during the Bronze Age of comics. Published by Dargaud across a span of sixteen years, this character shares his adventures alongside Philémon, placing him in wonderfully inventive Franco-Belgian company. With appearances collected across Collection 16/22 and the Philémon series, he's a charming piece of the rich Dargaud universe that defined a golden era of European bande dessinée — well worth seeking out for any serious collector of the form.
