Mildew Wolf
Mildew Wolf is a Hanna-Barbera cartoon character who appeared in Marvel's comic adaptation of the animated series Laff-A-Lympics, competing alongside other classic Saturday-morning characters like Yogi Bear and Captain Caveman in outrageous Olympic-style competitions.
Straight out of the Bronze Age, Mildew Wolf made his comics debut in Marvel's Laff-A-Lympics #1 in 1978, courtesy of creator Mark Evanier, as part of the wonderfully chaotic Hanna-Barbera animated universe translated onto the page. With only a dozen appearances across a short 1978β1979 run, he's a genuine rarity β a compact slice of that era's Saturday-morning sensibility, sharing panels with beloved characters like Yogi Bear, Hong Kong Phooey, Captain Caveman, and Taffy Dare. Laff-A-Lympics was a delightful corner of Marvel's Bronze Age output, and Mildew Wolf is exactly the kind of deep-cut find that makes flipping through back-issue bins such a joy for collectors who love their funny-animal comics with a side of nostalgia.
