Meteorite
Meteorite is an alias adopted by Karla Sofen — the villain Moonstone — when she joined the Thunderbolts, a team of supervillains posing as heroes. Empowered by a Kree gravity stone granting flight and light-based abilities, she concealed her true identity behind this heroic facade.
Peter David and Mike Deodato Jr. introduced Meteorite to Marvel readers in 1997's The Incredible Hulk #449, dropping this character into the thick of one of comics' most electrifying eras — right as the Thunderbolts were reshaping what readers expected from Marvel's morally complicated corners. With 28 appearances stretching nearly three decades and three collector-recognized key issues, Meteorite has proven more than a footnote, carving out a place alongside heavy hitters like Karla Sofen, Songbird, Melissa Gold, Abner Jenkins, and Erik Josten — a rogues' gallery of reformed villains and complicated heroes if ever there was one. The Thunderbolts title is where Meteorite is most at home, a series that built its legacy on characters who defied easy categorization, and that's exactly the kind of company worth seeking out.
