A shadowy figure who stepped onto the page in 1984's Warrior #18 under the formidable creative partnership of Alan Moore and Alan Davis, Martin Heidegger is a Bronze Age creation whose very company tells you something about the dark, morally complex world he inhabits — sharing pages with the likes of Adolf Hitler, Dr. Emil Gargunza, and Pluto. His footprint in the catalog is small but the corners he occupies are significant, appearing across the landmark Miracleman series at Eclipse, one of the most critically celebrated indie runs of its era. Three appearances, perhaps, but in comics, it's the weight of the room you're in that counts.
