Liquid Man
Liquid Man made his first splash in the very first issue of Don Simpson's Megaton Man back in 1984 — a key issue, no less — arriving as part of Kitchen Sink Press's irreverent, satirical take on superhero comics that made the indie scene so exciting in the Bronze Age. Simpson's world is a gloriously offbeat one, and Liquid Man keeps some wonderfully strange company: Yarn Man, Rex Rigid, Stella Starlight, and the bombastic Megaton Man himself. With appearances stretching across Megaton Man, Bizarre Heroes, and Savage Dragon vs. Savage Megaton Man through the mid-'90s, this character is a genuine artifact of a scrappy, creative era when small-press publishers were gleefully skewering the superhero genre — and for collectors who love that corner of comics history, six appearances with one certified key is a compact but rewarding trail to follow.
