Who is Kubark?

Kubark, known as Kid Gladiator, is the brash young son of Gladiator, the Shi'ar Imperial Guard's legendary leader. Sent to Earth to study at Wolverine's Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, he brings formidable Shi'ar physical power and considerable arrogance to his reluctant role as a student.

Kubark burst onto the Marvel scene in 2011's Wolverine & the X-Men #1, a Modern Age debut courtesy of artist Chris Bachalo that dropped this character right into one of the most energetic, chaotic corners of the X-Men universe. Sharing pages with heavy hitters like Wolverine, Iceman, Beast, and Kid Gladiator, Kubark has kept genuinely prestigious company across a publishing history that stretches surprisingly far — over a decade from that 2012 launch into 2025. With appearances also in Astonishing X-Men: Northstar, this is a character woven into the broader fabric of Marvel's mutant world, and for collectors who love digging into the deeper roster of the X-universe, Kubark is exactly the kind of find that rewards the curious.
