Who is Krusty the Clown?

Krusty the Clown is Springfield's world-weary children's TV entertainer, a cynical, fame-obsessed comedian who hides personal failings behind greasepaint and showbiz bluster. Bart Simpson's idol, he hosts his own variety show while constantly battling bad habits, shady dealings, and a fading career.

Springfield's favorite faded showbiz legend, Krusty the Clown, made his Bongo Comics debut in Simpsons Comics #5 in 1994, brought to the page by Steve Vance and Bill Morrison during the height of the Modern Age comics boom. Over a remarkable thirty-year run through 2024, he's shared panels with the entire Simpson family — Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and even little Maggie — keeping the best possible company in the Bongo universe. Whether you're a die-hard collector of the Simpsons Comics run or just discovering Bongo's wonderfully irreverent output, Krusty is a gloriously chaotic piece of that world, and tracking down his appearances is a treat for any fan of Springfield's most entertainingly dysfunctional corner of comics.
