Who is Kokken?

Kokken is the Norwegian name for Cookie, the gruff but good-natured army cook at Camp Swampy in Mort Walker's Beetle Bailey strip. He serves up meals — and occasional chaos — for the hapless soldiers of the base, including the perpetually lazy Beetle Bailey.

Kokken made their debut in the pages of Billy in 1999, brought to life by the legendary Mort Walker, and has been a recurring presence in that Hjemmet / Egmont series across nearly two decades. A Modern Age creation sharing the page with a lively cast that includes Billy, Sjanten, frøken Fryd, Jeger'n, and Otto, Kokken occupies a warm corner of Scandinavian comics history. With five catalog appearances spread over an impressive 18-year span, this is a character whose staying power speaks for itself — a quiet gem for collectors with a taste for the broader world of comics beyond the English-language mainstream.
