Who is Kid Icarus?

The video-game hero Pit, better known as Kid Icarus, is a young winged archer from the Nintendo game of the same name who crossed into comics as part of Acclaim/Valiant's Nintendo-licensed line, appearing alongside Captain N and other game-world characters.

Straight out of the late-golden era of video-game tie-in comics, Kid Icarus made his four-color debut in Archie 3000 #5 in 1989, riding the Copper Age wave of Nintendo-licensed excitement. Published by Acclaim/Valiant across a compact but spirited run through 1991, this pint-sized archer from the gaming world found a natural home alongside the likes of Captain N, Princess Lana, Kevin Keene, and even Mario himself in titles like Captain N: The Game Master and Adventures of the Super Mario Bros. With 23 appearances spread across some of the most nostalgic Nintendo comics of the era, Kid Icarus is a genuine time capsule — a beloved piece of that wonderfully earnest moment when the worlds of video games and comic books collided with pure, unabashed fun.
