Judge Maitland is a street judge serving in Mega-City One's vast and brutal justice system, operating within the world of Judge Dredd alongside figures such as Chief Judge Hershey and the eccentric Dirty Frank.

A creature of Mega-City One's labyrinthine justice system, Judge Maitland stepped onto the streets of 2000 AD in 2012 — a Modern Age addition to the legendary Dredd universe, brought to life by writer Al Ewing and artist Nick Dyer. Over a run stretching to 2016 across both 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine, Maitland carved out a place in one of British comics' most iconic sandboxes, sharing pages with titans like Judge Dredd himself, Chief Judge Hershey, and the gloriously unhinged Dirty Frank. Sixteen appearances may sound modest, but in a world this richly populated, earning a seat at that table is no small thing.
