Jimbo

Peter Bagge's Fantagraphics universe has always had room for wonderfully offbeat company, and Jimbo is a character who fits right into that irreverent, alt-comics spirit — debuting in Hate #26 in 1997 and turning up across a fascinatingly eclectic range of titles over the following two-plus decades. With appearances spanning Hate, Jimbo in Purgatory, and even Madman 20th Anniversary Monster!, this character clearly moves through some of the most distinctive corners of independent comics, sharing pages with the likes of Buddy Bradley, Harvey Pekar, and Mr. A. A modest catalog footprint makes each appearance something of a collector's discovery, the kind of deep-cut gem that reminds you why Fantagraphics has always been the home for comics that refuse to play by anybody else's rules.
