Who is Idéfix?

Idéfix is the small but spirited dog companion of the Gaul warrior Asterix, first appearing in the beloved Franco-Belgian comic series. Though tiny, he is fiercely loyal and famously distressed by any harm done to trees.

Few comic companions have burrowed their way into readers' hearts quite like Idéfix, the plucky little dog who first bounded onto the page in 1967, conjured by the legendary duo René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Debuting in the Silver Age within the Dutch anthology Pep, this small but spirited character has shared adventures alongside some of the most beloved figures in European comics — Asterix, Obelix, and Panoramix among them — gracing the pages of Eppo and Pep across a remarkable publishing span that stretches all the way to 2025. Published under Oberon, Idéfix is a testament to how even the most compact presence can leave an outsized impression, proving that you don't need to be the biggest character in the village to become utterly unforgettable.
