Who is Hoder?

Hoder is the blind Asgardian god of winter from Norse mythology, appearing in Marvel's pantheon of gods alongside Odin and Sif. In Marvel Comics, he is a resident of Asgard whose story draws on the legendary figure who, in myth, unwittingly slew the god Baldur.

Emerging from the pages of Ombrax-Saga in 1986, Hoder is a Copper Age creation brought to life by the celebrated team of Roger Stern and Al Milgrom, published by Editions Lug. Over a publishing span stretching some 35 years, this character has shared adventures with a remarkable roster that includes Odin, Sif, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, and Janet Van Dyne — mythic and Marvel royalty alike. Appearing across both Ombrax-Saga and Nous sommes les Éternels, Hoder occupies a fascinating corner of comics history that rewards the dedicated collector willing to dig into the rich world of Franco-Belgian Marvel publishing. A rare find with a long shadow, Hoder is exactly the kind of discovery that reminds you how wide and wonderful the comic book world truly is.
