Who is Hoder?

Hoder is Marvel's adaptation of Höðr, the blind Asgardian god of Norse mythology. A member of the Asgardian pantheon, he dwells in Asgard alongside Thor, Odin, Loki, and Balder, carrying into Marvel's cosmos his mythological role as a blind, often manipulated god.

Drawn from the depths of Norse myth and brought to Marvel's Bronze Age cosmos by the formidable creative team of Roy Thomas, Walt Simonson, and Ernie Chan, Hoder made his four-color debut in Thor Annual #7 in 1978 and has since wandered the halls of Asgard across more than three decades of storytelling. A rare and enigmatic presence, he keeps extraordinarily distinguished company — sharing pages with Thor, Odin, Loki, and Balder, the very pillars of Marvel's Asgardian pantheon. With only a handful of appearances spread across Thor, Thor Annual, and Thor: Ragnarok, Hoder is a collector's quiet discovery rather than a household name, the kind of mythologically rooted figure who rewards readers who love their Asgard lore deep and their Bronze Age Marvel even deeper.
