Goldbug
Goldbug is an Autobot from Marvel's Transformers comic series — a reimagined, upgraded form of Bumblebee, rebuilt after near-destruction into a sleeker, gold-colored Volkswagen Beetle. He fights alongside the Autobots in their ongoing war against the Decepticons on Earth.
Goldbug rolled onto the scene in 1988, debuting in the pages of Marvel's The Transformers #44 — a Copper Age entry into one of the most beloved licensed comics of its generation, brought to life by the series' defining creative voice Bob Budiansky and artist Frank Springer. With a compact but meaningful presence across The Transformers and the crossover spectacular G.I. Joe and the Transformers, this character keeps genuinely elite company, sharing adventures alongside Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Ratchet, Blaster, and Getaway. Six appearances may sound modest, but in a universe this crowded and consequential, every panel counts — and for devoted Transformers comics completists, Goldbug is a satisfying piece of the Marvel era's rich, sprawling puzzle.
