Who is Garguax?

Garguax is a Silver Age alien conqueror who set his sights on Earth, becoming a recurring threat to the Doom Patrol. His outlandish schemes and extraterrestrial menace made him a fitting adversary for DC's strangest team of heroes.

Dreamed up by Bob Haney and Dick Giordano and unleashed on an unsuspecting DC Universe in 1966's The Brave and the Bold #65, Garguax is a Silver Age villain with that particular brand of outlandish menace that made the era so irresistible. He's carved out his niche most prominently in the pages of Doom Patrol, keeping dangerous company with the likes of Robotman, Negative Man, and Larry Trainor β€” which tells you everything about the gloriously weird corner of DC he calls home. Durable enough to surface across nearly six decades and notable enough to earn a profile in Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe, Garguax is exactly the kind of deep-cut antagonist that rewards the collector who digs past the household names β€” two key issues in his slim but choice thirteen-appearance catalog make him a genuine find.
