Eagle
Few characters capture the scrappy, independent spirit of the mid-1980s small-press boom quite like Eagle, who soared onto the scene in 1986 courtesy of creators Rich Rankin and Neil Vokes at Crystal Publications. Born in the Copper Age, when ambitious indie publishers were staking their claim alongside the Big Two, Eagle headlined their own self-titled series and built a modest but dedicated following across a focused two-year run. With around twenty catalog appearances concentrated in that original Eagle series, this is a character whose entire story fits neatly into a collectible, era-defining package β the kind of complete, hunt-it-down run that reminds you why the indie comics scene of the late '80s was such a fertile, exciting place to explore.
