Dr. August Durant
Dr. August Durant is the mysterious organizer behind the Secret Six, a covert team of operatives each secretly blackmailed or controlled through unknown leverage. He recruits and directs the group's missions while concealing his own identity and motives from the members themselves.
A product of DC's Silver Age imagination, Dr. August Durant stepped onto the scene in 1968's Secret Six #1, brought to life by E. Nelson Bridwell and Frank Springer. Over roughly two decades, his presence would stretch across titles as varied as Action Comics Weekly and Blackhawk, putting him in some genuinely distinguished company β sharing pages with Superman, Blackhawk, and a cast of compelling figures like Carlo Di Rienzi and King Savage. With only eleven catalogued appearances, Durant is a rare find for the dedicated DC historian, the kind of deep-cut Silver Age character who rewards the curious collector willing to dig past the familiar names.
