Dr. Angst
Born from the delightfully off-kilter Bronze Age imagination of Steve Gerber and Sal Buscema, Dr. Angst made their Marvel debut in the oversized pages of Marvel Treasury Edition #12 in 1976 — a fitting grand format for a character with such a gloriously melodramatic name. With only a handful of catalog appearances, Dr. Angst is the kind of deep-cut curiosity who keeps company with the likes of Valkyrie and Iron Man, lending an air of genuine Marvel Universe legitimacy to what is clearly one of Gerber's more wonderfully eccentric creations. The fact that this character earned a spot in the All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z speaks volumes — Marvel saw fit to make Dr. Angst canon, and that's a badge worth wearing. For collectors who love the weird, wonderful fringes of the Bronze Age, Dr. Angst is exactly the kind of obscure gem that reminds you why digging through back issues is always worth it.
