Darkoth
Major Desmond Pitt was a soldier transformed through Doctor Doom's sinister experimentation into the monstrous Darkoth, engineered to serve as Doom's superhuman weapon. Despite his fearsome demonic appearance and engineered obedience, Darkoth fought to resist Doom's control over him.
Darkoth burst onto the Bronze Age Marvel scene in 1974's Fantastic Four #142, conjured by the creative team of Gerry Conway and Rich Buckler into a world already populated by legends. As a Fantastic Four affiliate, this eerie figure shares his adventures with some of Marvel's heaviest hitters β Ben Grimm, Susan Storm Richards, and the indomitable Victor Von Doom himself β which tells you something about the caliber of drama he's been caught up in. Spanning nearly five decades of publication across Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, and beyond, Darkoth is one of those gloriously atmospheric Bronze Age discoveries that rewards the dedicated collector willing to dig a little deeper into Marvel's rich, shadow-filled corners.
