Conundrum

A mystery wrapped in a name, Conundrum slithered into Marvel's corner of New York in 1998, conjured by the creative team of J. M. DeMatteis and Luke Ross in the pages of The Spectacular Spider-Man. This late Copper/Modern Age enigma is most closely associated with the Identity Crisis storyline — one of Spider-Man's more labyrinthine chapter — sharing the stage with a memorably dangerous cast that includes the likes of Jack O'Lantern and Daniel Berkhart. Rare appearances make Conundrum something of a collector's puzzle, the kind of obscure villain whose handful of issues rewards the dedicated Spider-Man completist hunting every dark corner of the web-slinger's world.
