Who is Colosso?

Colosso is the Italian name for Colossus (Piotr Rasputin), the Russian mutant X-Man who can transform his body into organic steel, granting him tremendous strength and durability. A gentle-natured farmer's son from Siberia, he joined the X-Men to protect a world that fears mutants.

Colosso made their entrance in 1990 within the pages of L'Uomo Ragno #50, a publication from Edizioni Star Comics that brought Marvel-flavored adventure to Italian readers during the Copper Age. Created by Al Milgrom and Pier Paolo Ronchetti, this character shares their corner of the comics world with some genuinely heavy hitters — Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Ciclope, Mary Jane Watson, and the web-slinger himself all cross paths in these pages. It's a compact but compelling presence, and for collectors with a passion for international comics history and the unique publishing stories that emerged beyond the American market, Colosso represents a fascinating artifact of that era worth seeking out.
