Who is Coby Collins?
Coby Collins stepped onto the scene in 1952, right in the twilight of comics' Golden Age, debuting in DC's cheerful teen humor series Leave It to Binky — the kind of breezy, slice-of-life title that kept suburban kids laughing through the early fifties. Created by Hal Seeger and Sheldon Mayer, Coby shares those lighthearted pages with the likes of Binky Biggs, Allergy Biggs, Peggy Baxter, and even Clark Kent, making for some wonderfully eclectic company. With only a handful of appearances to their name, Coby is a genuine deep-cut discovery — the sort of minor but authentic Golden Age find that reminds collectors just how rich and varied DC's mid-century catalog truly was.
