Cabell is an elderly Tiresian scientist and scholar in the Robotech universe, serving as a mentor figure whose knowledge of Protoculture and the Robotech Masters' civilization makes him a vital ally to the Sentinels coalition fighting against the Invid.

Stepping out of the late-1980s Malibu Comics universe, Cabell made his debut in the landmark first issue of Robotech II: The Sentinels in 1988, brought to life by artist Ben Dunn in one of the Copper Age's most beloved licensed sci-fi series. Over a run stretching into the early '90s, this figure carved out a presence across multiple Sentinels volumes and the mythology-deepening Robotech: Genesis: The Legend of Zor, keeping remarkable company alongside the likes of Rick Hunter, Max Sterling, and Emil Lang.
