Who is Bozo?
Few figures from the early 1950s carry quite the cheerful, unmistakable energy of Bozo, the beloved clown who bounded onto Dell Comics pages in Bozo the Clown #2 in 1951, brought to life by creators Don Sheppard and Lee Hooper. A Golden Age charmer published by Dell — home to some of the friendliest, most family-oriented comics of the era — Bozo also made his mark in the storied Four Color anthology series, that great showcase for pop-culture favorites of the day. With only a handful of catalog appearances across a run stretching into the mid-1950s, these issues are a warm, whimsical snapshot of an age when comics and beloved entertainment figures went hand in hand.
