Blacklash
Mark Scarlotti is a skilled engineer-turned-mercenary who weaponized his technical expertise into a deadly whip-based arsenal, adopting the Blacklash identity to hire out as a villain-for-hire. He is a persistent thorn in Iron Man's side within Marvel's rogues' gallery.
Slithering out of the Bronze Age in 1983, Blacklash made their Marvel debut in Marvel Two-in-One #96 courtesy of Tom DeFalco and Ron Wilson, and has been tangling with the House of Ideas' heaviest hitters ever since. With a catalog presence stretching nearly four decades, this villain has carved out a persistent niche in Marvel's rogues' gallery, most at home in the pages of Iron Man and Captain America β sharing those stories with the likes of Tony Stark and Steve Rogers themselves. It's a testament to the character's durability that Blacklash keeps turning up across eras, from Bronze Age brawls to Peter Milligan and Larry Hama collections. Fourteen appearances may sound modest, but for a deep-cut Marvel menace who runs with that caliber of company, every one of them counts.
