Agent R.E.G.G.I.E.
A spy-fi reimagining of Reggie Mantle, Agent R.E.G.G.I.E. is Riverdale's resident schemer recast as a Cold War secret agent, joining fellow operatives Agent A.R.C.H.I.E. and Agent J.U.G.H.E.A.D. in Archie Comics' playful espionage parody series.
Riverdale gets a spy-fi makeover with Agent R.E.G.G.I.E., a Silver Age creation who debuted in Life with Archie #57 in 1967, courtesy of writer Frank Doyle and artist Bob White. Part of Archie Comics' playful Cold War–era espionage riff, this character shares the page with the likes of Agent A.R.C.H.I.E., Agent J.U.G.H.E.A.D., Archie Andrews, and Jughead Jones — a whole Riverdale crew reimagined in trench coats and secret missions. Popping up across Life with Archie and The Jughead Jones Comics Digest over a roughly fifteen-year run, Agent R.E.G.G.I.E. is a charming footnote in the publisher's imaginative Silver Age experimentation, proof that Archie Comics was never afraid to send its beloved cast into gloriously unexpected territory.
