Abyss

A creature of shadow born in the Modern Age, Abyss made a striking entrance in 2022's Batman #119, conjured by the creative team of Joshua Williamson, Jorge Molina, and Mikel Janín into the darkest corners of Gotham's mythology. With only a handful of appearances to their name so far, this is a character whose story is still being written — but debuting in the pages of DC's flagship Batman title, rubbing shoulders with Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, and even Lex Luthor, is about as high-profile an introduction as the Modern Age has to offer.
