Who Is Spider-Man?

Spider-Man is Peter Benjamin Parker, a teenage science whiz from Queens, New York, who was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained incredible powers — wall-crawling, superhuman strength and agility, a precognitive 'spider-sense,' and he even built his own web-shooters. Created by the legendary Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Peter debuted in Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962), making him one of the most iconic Silver Age heroes ever. What sets Peter apart from other heroes is his everyman struggle: balancing school, work, relationships, and the guilt of his uncle Ben's death (driven by the motto 'With great power comes great responsibility'). Over the decades he's headlined dozens of series, faced villains like the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Venom, and the Vulture, and has become Marvel's most recognizable character worldwide.
