Donning a bat-inspired cape and cowl, he operates out of Gotham City from his secret Batcave beneath Wayne Manor, armed with his intellect, gadgets, and sheer iron will. He first appeared in Detective Comics #27 (1939), created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. Over the decades, he's built a family around him — Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Alfred, and the broader Batman Family — and squared off against iconic villains like the Joker, Two-Face, the Riddler, Ra's al Ghul, Bane, and the Penguin, making him one of the most enduring characters in all of comics.
