Who Is Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man of 2099?

Miguel O'Hara is Spider-Man 2099, an Irish-Mexican geneticist working for the Alchemax corporation in the futuristic Nueva York of 2099. After trying to replicate the original Spider-Man's powers and getting trapped in a hallucinogenic drug addiction, he uses Alchemax's gene-splicer to rewrite his DNA — only for a jealous superior to sabotage the process, fusing half his genetic code with spider DNA. Unlike Peter Parker, Miguel's powers are entirely biological: razor-sharp talons, venomous fangs, organic web-spinners in his forearms, and enhanced vision that works like a built-in zoom lens. He first appeared in Spider-Man 2099 #1 (1992), created by Peter David and Rick Leonardi, and has since crossed over into the main Marvel timeline and featured prominently in the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse film.
