The series was conceived as a direct sequel to the Blood Hunt event and the preceding Jed MacKay Doctor Strange run, with editor Alanna Smith's core creative directive to writer Derek Landy being simply to relocate Strange to Asgard. Landy, an Irish novelist best known for his Skulduggery Pleasant YA series, brought a tone blending street-level social observation with fantasy mystery, while artist Carlos Magno deliberately steered the visual approach away from Marvel's recent trend of abstract, hallucinatory Strange artwork toward grounded character work set against Asgard's darker, less-glamorized architecture. Issue #3 sits at the structural midpoint of the five-issue limited run and was published on May 14, 2025, as the thirty-third tie-in issue in the broader One World Under Doom publishing event.
