(Continued from page 17) Farewells Boat farewell parties bring out the lads with the light comedy touch. You know, the same blithe spirits who stack the hotel rooms of newlyweds, and throw their lu in the bath tubs and run away laffing like crazy. They are blood brothers of the wits who give you & good rousing root when you are bending over drinking from a faucet. We have seen staterooms so cluttered with rubbish and the aftermath of these mad pranksters that it took the whole crew of the “Carinthia” three days to clean it up—while the occupants lived | ona shelf in the linen room. Well, maybe we are just getting to be an old futzy misanthrope. Only—if you're not doing anything when our boat sails, there’s always a good show at the Roxy! Au rewarr, bons gars! High Hat-Checks The Stork Club, 3 E. 53rd St. This busy place is the personal triumph of its Head Man, Mr, Sherman Billingsley. It is also a great credit to him, and a model for other gentlemen with repeat business from the “Right Crowd” in mind. But Mr. Billingsley has made it pretty tough for them, because he’s got the Crowd”... the crowd they're all after. \ visit will tell you why, And yet leave you with the feeling that the next gentleman who opens a place exactly like the Stork Club might still find time on his hands to buff his nails and wonder where the people were. For he still wouldn't be Mr. Billingsley. (Put these in water, Sherman, and cut the stems every third day!). The food and liquors are superb. Brandwynne’s American orchestra and Gus Martell’s Rumba Band keep you dancing on a floor about the size of a Horn & Hardart paper napkin. At the big. crowded bar you will find understand that Nat almost: everybody—we that’ s where Lincoln Ellsworth was all that time. He just couldn’t get out. even to ‘phone. And there’s congenial com pany to suit your every mood.
