Organ Recital (Continued from page 14) one of my most efficient men used to he a newsboy and hence knows a lot \hout how to circulate a paper. In case you plan to have it more of a magazine, I could give you some tips heeause I worked my way through business school selling magazi Should the two of us come in some day ind run over your problems with you Dutfield Stong. Danpy Hanpy Canny Bars, Inc. Inter-Office Meme From: Orville Munix, See’ To: J, A. Tishweiler, Pres Re: A Column I uave not been able to find Mr. Helprin, so I am writing directly to you to suggest that you have a humor column in The Dandy Handy Candy Barometer. I know there is nothing funny about selling Dandy Handy Candy Bars, that it is a man- sized, full-time job and all that; but I do think that a column of good clean jokes and funny comments would liven up the paper and make our deal- ers want to read it because I think our dealers are in a fine position to ap- preciate a good joke. I have had sev- eral jokes published in the Bright Sayings of Children columns of the newspapers and so I think I could turn out a fine column of comedy that would add the true Dandy Handy Candy Bar flavor to The Dandy Handy Candy Barometer. Yours for looking on the bright side of every- thing, Orville Mu Danny Hanpy Canpy Bars, Inc. Inter-Office Memo Ichabod Mindling, Vice-Pres. A, Tishweiler, Pres. F dy Organ. T of The Dandy Handy Candy Barometer appeals to me, hut what I think we must do is to get people to write for it who are of the same quality as Dandy Handy Candy Bars. Tam sure that Sinclair Lewis, Hf. L. Mencken and other writers like that would only be too happy to do a series of articles for us, as they would he ad to have their names linked with Dandy Handy Candy Bars. shich is fast becoming a houschold word. I am secing Mr. Helprin to- morrow about collaborating with me ona story to be called “The Rorene« of the Dandy Handy Candy Bar.” Of course I have all the plot and ideas, All Mr. Helprin will have to do is just the actual writing. I think you'll Jike ‘t-and I’m sure it'll make everyone who reads it want to know more abont vur delicious confection. Also it is fine moving-picture story from which we would get invaluable advertising. Ichabod Mindling. LIGHT ON THE MYSTERY the quest who couldnt sleep The house was hushed. Midnight had struck two hours ago. But still the guest in 1422 hunched wide-eyed in his bed. Wide-eyed and tense! For the shadows were peopled with ghosts and the thin wind at his window was an ceric voice. The curtain moved! He shrank back, and would have cried out, if his Better Judgment had not said, “After all, this is only a fictional murder you're reading. You might be a little calmer until the mystery is solved.” And perhaps he was —a little. At any rate he turned back to his book and read on to the end. You may or may not be a mystery story enthusiast. Per- haps your preference is for the gentler tempo of philosophy or biography. But if you do read blood-and-thunder thrillers far into the night when you're away from home, there is no place quite as comfortable for doing it as your Statler room. There, even if the nerve strain is as bad as other places, the eye strain isn't. For you can slip into your pajamas, settle the blankets over your knees, switch on the bed-head reading lamp, and have perfect illumination for the darkest plot. And these bed-head reading lamps do give abundant illumination, They are designed for that. When we first intro- duced them — and, incidentally, introduced them in every ee room, as we did the private bath, the cir- ou culating ice water, the radio—we saw to | it that they had the quality we give our | guests in service, hospitality and equip- ment—a quality that even world-travelers approve.
