Spirit #162 (1943)

"The Spirit" investigates the disappearance of Ellen, a woman missing for three weeks, when the Spirit encounters her at a marathon dance marathon competition at the Acme Dance Hall; Ellen claims she entered the dance contest of her own volition, but the Spirit suspects foul play and interrogates her dancing partner to uncover the truth. "Lady Luck" features a costumed hero intervening in a boxing match where an unsavory character attempts to manipulate the outcome. "Mr. Mystic" depicts the mysterious title character engaging in espionage activities at a waterfront location, dealing with smugglers and underworld figures involved in illicit operations.
