While in detention, students Byron, Marcie & Doogie are visited by a figure claiming to be Abraham Lincoln. The fake Lincoln transfixes the nation with empty jingoism and is prepared to resume "his" second term. Suddenly, the real Lincoln appears and Byron tries to convince the people to listen to him, but the real Lincoln's plain looks and casual speech turns off the public. Eventually, Byron, Marcie and Lincoln discover the impostor is working for alien invaders; Lincoln exposes the impostor as Benedict Arnold and drives the aliens away; his mission done, Lincoln returns to his own time.
