Shadowland: Blood on the Streets #3

Part three of Marvel's 2010 limited series finds the tension at a fever pitch, as Francesco Mattina's moody cover presents two battle-worn women — one armed with dual pistols and dressed in white, the other bloodied and intense in close-up — flanking a darkly crackling, outstretched gauntleted hand that dominates the foreground. The atmosphere is drenched in shadow and violet light, perfectly capturing the street-level danger the title promises. With Antony Johnston scripting and Wellinton Alves on interior art, Blood on the Streets continues to be one of the Shadowland event's grittier, more grounded corners.
