Les Femmes en Blanc #37

A cheerful slice of hospital humor from Bercovici and Cauvin's long-running Franco-Belgian series, this 2015 Dupuis album is subtitled Un bacille heureux — "A Happy Germ." The cover says it all: a composed nurse steps out of the Urgences (Emergency) doorway, clipboard in hand, while a waiting-room trio of increasingly disheveled patients look on — one of them grinning ear to ear despite a face full of spots, seemingly delighted by his own affliction. It's the warm, deadpan comic timing that has made Les Femmes en Blanc a beloved fixture of the Belgian comics tradition.
