The seventh volume of Nob's charming family comedy series opens with a wonderfully self-aware gag: Dad stands at the bathroom mirror flexing in his "Fitness Club" t-shirt, admiring a reflection that poses back with equal confidence — while behind him in the mirror, his four kids (a dark-haired teen, a pink-haired girl, two younger children) react with barely contained mockery and disbelief. It's a perfectly composed snapshot of the gentle delusion and everyday chaos at the heart of Dad, and the subtitle La force tranquille ("The quiet strength") lands with exactly the right ironic warmth. Published by Dupuis in 2020, this is feel-good Franco-Belgian slice-of-life humor at its most inviting.
