This issue contains three feature-length Black Diamond Western stories. "The Bookworm's Bonanza" follows Doc Drake and placer miner Neilsen as they investigate a mysterious man named Jackson who acts suspiciously secretive at the Nugget Saloon; Jackson carries a package he is anxious to send, prompting Neilsen to determine what Jackson is hiding. A Black Diamond Western story depicts a conflict two years prior in the Black Hills involving Colonel Vane and Indian affairs, where the military debates strategy and Vane is court-martialed and reassigned to Fort Thunder to maintain peace between settlers and Apache tribes.
