HENRI CHARPENTIER AFE Henri Charpentier, the rendezvous of gourmets, is New York's finest restaurant in the continental man- ner. Here in a modern French setting, Mons. Char- pentier, disciple of the great Auguste Escoffier and host to Royalty, concocts those amazing dishes for which he is so famous: Tortue Verte au Vieux Madere; Rognon de Veau Saute au Vin Blanc; Champignons Cepes Morilles; and Fraise du Bois—those tiny wild strawberries imported all the way from France and served with double cream in little earthen- ware pots. AFE Henri Charpentier is cool and breezy with high ceil- ings and huge windows overlooking Rockefeller Plaza, the fountain of Prometheus and the gay umbrella-tables of the café and bar. HE bar, done in burnished copper and soft, brown leather, is air-conditioned and its lighted portholes create the effect and duplicate the luxurious simplicity of a lounge in a modern ocean liner. OWHERE in America will the connoisseur find such a careful selection of vintage wines, bonded whiskies, im- ported cordials, and old brandies, as in the cellars of Mons. Charpentier—supplied by the following purveyors whose mer- chandise is endorsed by, and served in, Café Henri Charpentier. i Cafe Reidemeister & Ulrichs Corp, Rhine Wines, Moselle Wines, Bordeaux, Burguns | Li Sparkling Luxembourg Whisk Heaton Wine & Sy Ross's Scotch Whiskey, Castillo Cu pher’s Posts, Shetries & Madeitas, R Burdon Sherries Spain's Finest Rust-Oppenheim Waegen & Co..
