# Judge Magazine Page Analysis This page satirizes competing claims to boxing titles and incompetent authority figures in 1920s boxing. **Top Section ("Judge - World's Champion"):** Mocks rival boxing associations' conflicting claims about heavyweight champion status. Kid Kleaver allegedly holds the "world's champion" title, but multiple organizations dispute this—the Southeastern Peninsular States Boxing Association, Northern Suffolk County and Inter-Mountain Boxing Association, and N.S.C.I.M.B.A. each claim different champions (Gus Finnegan, Pete Tobasco, Sunny Jim Grogan). The cartoon's illustration of buildings stacked absurdly emphasizes the ridiculous layer upon layer of competing, overlapping authorities. **Lower Sections:** Two brief humor pieces—one about golf excuses, another about a boat cook quitting. The satire targets boxing's fragmented governance and the absurdity of multiple organizations claiming exclusive title recognition.

JUDGE WORLD’S CHAMPION TT! coming bout between Kid Kleaver and Hoots Tamb- erlane for the heavyweight championship of the world ought to be a humdinger. Kid Kleaver is the present world’s champion—or at least he is the world’s champion recog- nized by the Upper Middle States Boxing Association. Kleaver clearly earncd the title when he defeated Battling Uppercut, the former champion. Of course the Southeastern Peninsular States Boxing As- sociation doesn’t recognize the Kid as the champion because it had not recognized Battling Uppercut either. Battling Uppercut had violated the rules of this association because his 1 accepted Kleaver's challenge when the chal- ad not been written on the official stationery of the i . it has given the vacated title to Finnegan, who will defend it against Lefty Make- rding to the Northern Suffolk County and Inter- in Boxing Association, however, the Makeupolous- n spasm will not decide the world’s heavyweight championship, because Finnegan is not champion. Finne- gan, in his last fight, failed to secure a dentist's certificate beforehand, and it is directly counter to the regulations of this body for a fighter to fight without previous dental ex- amination, Therefore, declares the ¥ I.M.B.A., Fin is not and never was world’s champion, and the impending bout signifies nothing. What is important is the scheduled encounter between the world’s champion, Harry Carson, of England, and Flip O'Sockem. corrine at the impending “world’s cham- pionship” bout between Carson and O'Sockem, the Blizzard Belt Boxing Asso- ciation declares that neither are even logi- cal contenders for the crown. Carson for- feited all rights for consideration when he failed to say hello to his mother over the radio after knocking out Hugo Schwarz last June. This was in direct violation of the association’s rule, and the association wo has sponsored a bout between the recog- *s champion, Pete Tobasco, and a ae Be, nized world’s Sunny Jim Grogan.—Parke CumMinos “Arwright, one of you guys get out here and change this tire!” At Last!
