# Weird Tales, January 1928

This issue features a diverse array of weird fiction and supernatural tales. The cover story is Seabury Quinn's "The Gods of East and West," part of his Jules de Grandin series, depicting a battle between opposing deities over a woman's soul. Walter Carrington's "The Feathered Serpent" involves a mysterious "Gray Death" within an ancient temple. Ray Cummings contributes a three-part serial, "The Giant World," depicting a distant planet inhabited by enormous beings. Robert E. Howard's "The Riders of Babylon" and Arthur W. Davenport's "While the Lamps Hissed" follow with tales of adventure and exotic peril. Edmond Hamilton concludes his four-part serial "The Time-Raider," while other contributions include N.L. Brewer's "Folk of the Dark," John Martin Leahy's polar horror "In Amundsen's Tent," and W.K. Mashburn Jr.'s "The Garret of Madame Lemoyne," a New Orleans ghost story. Edgar Allan Poe's "Metzengerstein" appears as a reprint, and the issue includes verse by multiple authors.
