# Catalog Note: Weird Tales, August 1927

This issue contains seven fantasy and horror stories. "The Bride of Osiris," a three-part Egyptian serial by Otis Adelbert Kline, opens with a Chicago kidnapping involving a mysterious symbol connected to ancient Osiris worship, murders, and occult dangers at Karnak. George Malcolm-Smith's "Satan's Fiddle" explores music's destructive power—a death chord capable of toppling buildings. G. G. Pendarves contributes "The Power of the Dog," dealing with Arabian black magic and the fate of two Englishmen. Seabury Quinn offers "Creeping Shadows," featuring his recurring detective Jules de Grandin investigating mysterious deaths. Additional stories include "Fly Island" by B. Wallis, featuring gigantic killer insects; "The Man With a Thousand Legs" by Frank Belknap Long, Jr., a sea horror tale; and "The Phantom Photoplay" by Terva Gaston Hubbard, a ghost story set in the motion picture industry. The issue concludes with the conclusion of "The Dark Chrysalis" serial and Wilfred Blanch Talman's "Two Black Bottles," concerning supernatural disturbances in an old Dutch church.
